“Innovations in Sustainability”: A Green Business Symposium

“Innovations in Sustainability” is a half-day symposium that will provide attendees the knowledge, action steps and connections to green their enterprise. Featuring a keynote by Serious Materials founder Kevin Surace, facilitated Thinkubator solutions circles, an expert panel, performance art and a networking reception, this high impact event is a must for those interested in green business.
San Francisco Business Times environmental reporter Lindsay Riddell will moderate a panel of experts including Scott Cooney, author of “Build a Green Small Business”; Anthony Tsai, Green Business Program Manager at Urban Solutions; and Elaine Jennings, owner of Small Potatoes Catering, which will this year meet all requirements to become a San Francisco Certified Green Business. Panelists will bring their unique perspectives to a discussion about why going green is important, how to market a green business, and what small business owners should expect when taking steps towards sustainability.
Interactive Thinkubator solutions circles will allow attendees to solve one another’s business challenges within a group. Group facilitators include sustainability executives Darian Rodriguez-Heyman and Bonnie Nixon of the new Code Green Agency, Rob Blackof the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, and Kirstin Henninger of Green Café Network.
The symposium is presented by Urban Solutions, a non-profit organization that has helped more than 4,000 small businesses with business development, job creation, loan packaging, and sustainability services throughout the Bay Area. Their Green Business Program is a social enterprise that provides business and property owners with on-site consultations and implementation services.
