A neighborhood gem for over two years, Catahoula is a local’s coffee paradise, with coffee freshly roasted onsite by the café’s owner, Tim. Catahoula’s claim to fame is not only the freshly roasted beans – it has also fostered sense of community and camaraderie that keeps customers coming back and spreading the word. The café is committed to sustainability and supporting other local businesses and offers yummy vegan options – even a vegan whoopee pie! The unique value of this café is summed up well by Tim’s statement : “I’m just a simple man who fell in love with coffee and the roasting process. My goal is to deliver quality coffee that supports the farmers, and sustains the environment, and to educate the coffee drinking community as to what good coffee really is.”

The Blue Warrior Café and Environmental Center is located on a 2 acre site on Lake Tahoe with 700 feet of beach access and is operated by Alpengroup, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting Lake Tahoe’s natural resources. Opened in August, 2010, the café operates year-round and the facility provides free access to Lake Tahoe for non-motorized watercraft as well as a small sledding hill, picnic and interpretive areas, beach access and plowed access to parking. Alpengroup’s
goal for the site is to enhance regional lake access and beach recreation opportunities and to incorporate wetland restoration, and improved water quality treatment opportunities, wildlife habitat, and scenic values. Considering the visitor industry is the primary source of economic activity for the North Lake Tahoe area, the Blue Warrior Café is sure to be an important recreational and educational resource for tourists and locals alike – so stop by whenever you are in the area! All proceeds from the sales at the Blue Warrior Cafe goes directly to the projects at Lake Tahoe.
