Frequently Asked Questions

Will winners receive credit for their designs?

Yes!  All winners will be credited on GCN’s website with your design and in all promotions.

How do I win?

Submit your design using our Registration page.  The winners of this contest will be those signs that are chosen by our panel of judges for their DESIGN and CLARITY OF MESSAGE.  The top design in each category will receive a cash prize and runners-up will receive great product prizes.

NOTE:  ALL FINALIST DESIGNS will be featured on GCN’s website and will be available for printing and use by cafes and restaurants.  Each winning sign will be displayed on our website with the designer’s name and a link to his or her website and/or portfolio, if applicable.

How will entries be judged?

Your signs will be judged first and foremost on clarity of message, but stylish design is also a must. We’re trying to get customers to perform concrete actions (composting, conserving energy, etc), so an attractive sign that doesn’t clearly guide and inform is less useful.  An attractive, hip design that clearly inspires action is just right – go for it!

Where will the signs be used?

The signs will be available for use by cafes nationwide, since the signs will be printable as PDFs from our website.  When each person downloads the sign for printing, they are required to provide basic information so that we can follow up with them on the efficacy of the signs.

What if I have trouble uploading my design or registering?

Simply email us at artcontest(at)greencafenetwork(dot)org and we will get back to you asap!

When is the deadline?

The deadline was Tuesday, November 1st.

Who can enter?

The contest is meant for students and budding professional designers, but it is open to anybody with a great design.

What size should the signs be?

Entries should be sent as both a 72 DPI JPG version (for display on the web) and a 300 DPI PDF version for print. Each file should be no larger than 7 megabytes in size.
